​Trees were first constructed using a plywood base and top connected with a series of 2x4 supports and additional 1x to create a shape

The wooden frames were then covered in chicken wire attached with staples

The chicken wire was then covered with stretched muslin so that the paper would have something to stick on to

Muslin was covered in paper soaked in a glue and water mixture, which created a bark-like texture

Paper was sealed with roofing compound, then painted to look like trees
